A rectangular bedroom is good.

You may still have the bed face the door. But avoid the `coffin position' where one's feet directly faces the bedroom door. This is where the whole body is parallel with the wall and when one enters the bedroom door, see the entire peron's feet and body in a straight line.
Otherwise, it is still acceptable for the bed to be facing the bedroom door. It should be that our head should be able to look at the bedroom door and see who is coming in.

Yes, you can have the dresser with mirror placed along the side of the bed. And not let it face any part of the bed. This is considered acceptable.
