Dear Yang Ming,
1. Usually, in a small island like Singapore where one is surrounded by the sea on every side.
2. Depending on your location, due to way the sun heats up the land mass (it gets hotter) than the sea) and due to high and low pressures, sometimes, air from land mass moves out to the sea and vice-versa.
3. Because of this, air-catchment may come in from one or the other side of the house.
4. However, if one closes a row of windows or the main door, air cannot funnel inwards from one side of the window to the other side.
5. If air frequently comes in from only one area of the house, and if it is a new house, it could imply that the air is scooped up e.g. from the profile of the builing and into this area.
In fact, it would be nice if this is the "opposite" so that air comes in from either the main door or the windows at the frontage. As shown in the attached illustration.
Overall, the main concern is if one hangs too many clothings to dry or place e.g. mops etc or cleaning utensils at the service balcony. Especially since, air flows from this location into the house.
Warmest Regards,
Cecil
