Dear Anon,
Here, there are several view-points:
1. Some Feng Shui practioners will `insist' that one should use an immovable object rather than a picture.
2. Some Feng Shui practioners will advise you that one can hang pictures but watch what you hang.
Under para 2, the advise is to hang a picture of a mountain scene. Excellent examples are: a picture of Mount Fuji in Japan or the Himalayas. Scenes such as this.
Where best, avoid pictures of water scenes such as fountain, fishes swimming.
Other alternatives are calligraphy works or pictures of Chinese paintings with a backdrop of a mountain / village scene are acceptable.
