Imagine this: if the ceiling above you is flat, then there is no `beam'. If the ceiling above has a supporting beam to support the structure of the above unit/floor than, it is a beam.

Under Feng Shui, even if there is a ceiling beam but if it is fully covered under a false ceiling, this no longer becomes a `threat.'
