Dear Jun,
1. In my part of the world, it is quite easy to obtain a pair of flutes i.e. with the phoenix and dragon design or image.
The phoenix (female) is always hang on the left and the dragon (male) is hung on the right. Where Dragon = East.
Such flutes are easy to hang because of its drawing should be such that it is not `upside down' and therefore, the mouth piece can easily be established with the pictorial diagram.
2. It cannot be expected that you can or may find such a pair of flute in your country.
In my opinion, if your flute also has drawings or illustrations, do not let the pictures hang upside down.
3. If the pair of flute does not have drawings; this may be subject to interpretations by different FS practitioners.
In my opinion, this does not really matter so long as you have the proper profile such as shown in the earlier picture of the flutes. Which should show as an outline of the trigram. (Please refer to the earlier pictures).
If one is still not `satisified' with the above answer: One can hang the mouthpiece i.e. if one is facing the flute:
for the left flute : mouthpiece `rising' up and for the right flute: a mirror image of this i.e. mouth piece also `rising' up.
4. It is considered more accurate or effective to place it just above the sofa seat where one should be siting under. Therefore if the sofa seat is on one side, it should be place directly above it. NOT at the middle span (if the sofa seat is not there).
5. It does not really matter if it is placed on one side or the `other' side of the beam.
I hope u have a better understanding of it now.
Warmest Regards,
Cecil
